I want to get a nice wrasse for my new stock list but I cant make up my mind since they're all beautiful but i only have room for one. If you had to choose only one based on your experience, which one would it be from this list I made?

Man I can't even vote! LOL! To hard to choose.

I'm going Lineatus. I have both the Lineatus and a Flame. Lineatus is my fav. In the past I had a trio of flames, it almost always ends poorly with multiply males and fighting. Why don't you have space for more than one? Get a flame and Lineatus!!!

Have all of the above. Rhomboid is definitely a stunner. I'd get rhomboid AND a lineatus and let them flash with one another. Amazing colors. Try to get them small as females, they'll become males in no time and they are definitely easier to acclimate when they're small vs large.
I don't see labouti. Personally I like the labouti second to the rhomboid, just for the awesome pattern.

Sorry they will eventually turn without the presence of another female? I've been planning on getting these two and wasn't sure if that would guarantee eventually having a male.

Really no wrong answer cause they're all awesome but I too gotta go Rhomboid if I could just have one.

I agree with Brett. Rhomboids have always been my favorite.

I would have to pick a trio of flames. Not on the list but a Radiant has been one of my favorites.

I would agree that multiple Flames will more than likely end in all turning male and even with a large tank and lots of hiding spots can end badly. Sometimes they will coexist, but only when there is a clearly dominant male and the sub-adult male(s) take the passive role - even then there will be a lot of chasing and it can be stressful for the sub-adults.

Any of those wrasses would be a nice addition to a reef tank.

Male Flames are very striking and ours is the first fish everyone notices in our tank. Rhomboid terminal males are also very striking as the golden yellow and purple markings are very bold. Lineatus males are gorgeous and there coloration more subtle.

The Vanuatu Exquisite is gorgeous, but wrasses with primarily blue coloration will lose the vibrant color unless there is a female present.

That fish always looks like he has a beard. His colors are just outstanding.

all of them!!!!...I love my flame but my Rhom get's a lot of love...I have a Lineatus on the way...hit up PIA he can get all of those...I would go with a flam pair...check out my video and you can see some of those for yourself.

Yup, I've gotta echo this as well. The chances of all or most of your flames going male is quite high.

Rhomboid or Lineatus. I keep both.

Note Brad's picture of the Rhomboid is in nuptial coloration; they don't look like that all the time. ;)

The Rhomboid. Absolute stunner and a centerpiece for any tank. Pair it up with the Lineatus and you've got a show stopper.
