Every pump maker on the market claims they make the quietest pump available.

The whirring bucket of water in back of me would like to say overwise :D .

Wondering if you guys could add like a standardize noise test to your reviews to be able to judge one pump to the next while buying.

Maybe a DB meter and a short clip of the pump at max and a stop start mode?

Yes please! Since my aquarium and my home theater are in the same room, equipment noise can be very annoying when watching movies, etc. I still have a sound meter from waaaay back in the day when I had to manually calibrate my surround sound system. Now I use it to measure and try to reduce the noise levels coming from my aquarium and sump. Measurable sound data would definitely drive my purchase decisions if available.

I think the biggest demographic in this hobby is men over 40, who tend to have reduced hearing range.

I think that drives a lot of the "oh, this pump is quiet" posts concerning things like the Tunze ATO pump, which is basically a cheap 12v bilge /baitwell pump.

IE, most of "quiet" is really "I can't hear that frequency"
