White almost clear algae in RODI reservoir

I have a white almost clear algae growing in my 55 gal RODI reservoir. It is suspended in the water. I cleaned it out, washed it all down and refilled it with nothing by RODI. A month later I am seeing it again. Anyone have a similar experience?

How long does your rodi sit? Is it in a sealed reservoir?

Sounds more like a bacteria or fungus to me. It is unlikely to be an algae.

Did you disinfect it when you cleaned it out?

That’s fairly typical IME. It’s a bacteria that grows in very low TDS water. It’s harmless from what I remember.

What would be the safest way to "disinfect" my RODI container without having to worry about any residual concerns when I fill it back up with RODI? Bleach and water solution? Won't leave any residual on the plastic?

The safest would likely be vinegar. Wipe everything down really well with a 50/50 mixture or let it soak for a day in a weaker dilution.

Personally, I would use bleach. Fill it up with tap water, dump a cup or 2 of bleach, and let it sit for a day. Drain it, rinse it out with tap water a bunch and then let it dry before using. It may have a little bleach still left after that, but not enough to hurt anything.

I would use hydrogen peroxide. Only residues - water and oxygen gas
