So far, Snape is holding up in QT. He is not eating as he's definitely not happy in the strange environment, without his buddy Blondie. I put a PVC pipe in there but he prefers to crouch beside it rather than in, although he did spend some time in there yesterday. I could see his wound more clearly in the reflection of the tank bottom and it is very worrisome indeed. There is not only the open sore in his side but one on his tummy as well. It looks clean but open sores look scary. I don't want to give up hope but I would be amazed if it grows back over. It might be my imagination but the wound did look smaller (?) today.
I just wanted to describe all this as I've been googling and cannot find similar accounts, or at least anyone willing to share their story. My feeling at this point is that I should have been more decisive in pulling him out earlier and treating with meds to get ahead of the game. Live and learn.
He seemed to be down at the mouth (well, more than usual) yesterday, although the stress surely played into it, and I was very afraid going to the tank this morning. Today, he seemed more himself, more active. I put a couple of mysis in there, did not see him eat it, but couldn't find it after a few minutes so he may have ingested it.
In addition to the meds, I am making sure there is adequate water surface agitation, keeping the salinity a bit lower, and put in some Stress Coat. Hope that helps to mitigate his stress level.
Poor Blondie has blocked up his usual tunnel entrances this entire time. Hope his buddy can return to him soon.
And no cyphastrea so that is ruled out. Internal parasites causing this?
