White bug in copper qt and fish still flashing

Hi guys,

It’s been rough during this qt process. The new fishes (some how they were infect with ich or velvet after two weeks of observation ) I got from live aquaria has been in the therapeutic copper (Hanna tested 1.98) for 18 days already. Done two round of prazipor, treated internal parasites with metro and kanaplex for bacteria infection. However, they still ocationally flashing but no white spot on them anymore. Today when I do water change for the qt due to cloudy water after parazipro, I notice there is tons of tiny white bug on the glass. The qt is a new setup without any live rock, and there is no chance for pods to be introduce. Please see the picture below. Any idea what is it and is this ich? Thank you!

Yes, a closer picture (preferably in focus) would be needed. I would doubt they are "bugs" though. Probably some kind of algae.

are these white specs moving on the glass. how do you know they are alive or bugs? could it be debris or sand/nasty's stuck on the glass.

This is the best picture that I can take. I didn’t notice them crawling on the glass until I do water change yesterday. They are very small white bug crawling over the glass and I cant see their leg like the pod in my dt.

What is the reason they continue to flashing and despite there is no more ich spot? I have done two prazipro and fw dip, but can’t see any fluke.

Don’t mean to bump this thread. I’m lost at what still causing the fish to flash? Just checked copper using Hanna as it’s in 2.13. I have done two 24 hours prazipro 5 days apart. The clown still have internal parasites (currently treating metro. Is this the reason they still scratch against the pvc?

It could be they itch due to wounds healing, or prazi-resistant flukes. You can either keep them in Copper until 30 days pass and transfer them to a sterile QT and observe. My radiant wrasse from LA has gone through TTM, true Hyposalinity, multiple GC doses and PraziPro doses, no spots yet still scratching. It's still in QT after nearly 3 months.

I’m sorry to that you have to keep them qt for so long. So what is the cure for prazipro resistant fluke? I guess formaline but it cause long term effect on the fish.

Yeah i'm head scratching now. While this wrasse is still in QT, I have treated 6 more fish and they are now happy in DT lol. Anyway, hyposalinity and Formalin are recommended treatments for stubborn flukes, but I'd avoid Formalin until nothing else works. IMO, I'd wait a couple more days then transfer all the fish to a different QT tank. If they still scratch then proceed with hypo and keep that for 1 week. Do buffer the pH though.

Solid advice here. I've had to do hypo for prazi resistant flukes a couple times. Like mentioned, you'll want to keep a close eye on pH during the treatment.

I bake- baking soda at 300° for one hour. I then pour 1- 1 1/8 cup into a 1 gallon bottle of distilled water and shake vigorously. Once in the morning and once in the evening I'll check pH. Generally speaking, for my 29g qt with ~25-26g of water I'll do about a shot glass worth of the mixture every 12 hours (shaking again before each use). This keeps my pH around 7.8-8.0

It’s just strange they survived in 2.15 chelated copper. I’m wondering are they the reason why the fishes still flashing after 24 days in copper and 2 round of prazipro and 1 round of general cured?

No way isopods survived copper. I'm not familiar with Hanna copper, but is it good for chelated copper? You might wish to try another copper test kit for chelated copper. Definitely have not reached therapeutic levels of copper if you have isopods running around.

The ich spot are gone after 2 weeks in copper. I’m using coppersafe in the qt with Hanna high range test kit. I think @HotRocks, the others and Hanna both confirm the tester is accurate for saltwater and all form of copper. Unless I miss something. I’m so lost right now that either this pods are strong, my Hanna is not correct , parzipro resistance fluke , or something wrong with coppersafe.
