White Bump/Spot on Tomini Tang

There is this white bump on my tang’s right body. The tang has been in qt for about 1.5 weeks and is eating nori and brine shrimp. He usually hides in the pipes and darts around while flashing his dorsal fins. Is this ich or flukes?

I think its a fluke, I know there is a treatment such as a freshwater dip but I'm pretty sure you gotta treat the whole tank then which I don't know. Also appears to have HLLE on its head

Yeah, I’m trying to treat the HLLE with vitamins. I also dipped Prazipro 3 days ago so how is this fluke still hanging on?

With Prazi you typically have to do two rounds, or at least the recommended treatment is two rounds to account for anything that laid eggs or were missed the first treatment. Given your tang is happily eating a variety of foods I would just aerate the tank and run the second treatment versus the stress and process of a freshwater dip.

Given your tang is happily eating a variety of foods I would just aerate the tank and run the second treatment versus the stress and process of a freshwater dip.

Should I still keep him in qt until he removes the fluke if second dose of prazi doesn’t do anything?

If it is actually a fluke yes I would keep the fish in quarantine until confirmed. If it is lymphocitis it is harmless and a cleaner shrimp can usually take care of that. They are benign growths if I remember it correctly, very common on copperband butterflies and other fish. I would treat the whole tank with Prazi, wait a few days and see the change. Post back with results and we can then help narrow it down if it is in fact not a fluke.

The white spot has come off after the second dosage of prazi. It’s a fluke. I’m still wondering how it survived the first dosage though

I am not totally sure about how flukes reproduce, but what I can say is that the common dosage for Prazi is two rounds for that reason. Prazi works on living, active parasites and some haven't hit that stage during the first dose so the second comes in to kill them off before they can reproduce again. Glad to hear it came off and we at least can move forward with getting your fish healthy again! I love my tomini tang, way more docile than other tangs I've had and the coloration is very cool.
