Hello everyone!
I’ve searched I’ve googled and can’t find an exact answer. I’ve just started this tank out and using RODI water with Coral pro salt. After everything was settled sand and rock I started seeding the tank with a bit of fish flake. After about two days I noticed a white/clear barrier surrounding the flake or pellet. It’s almost cocoon like. After removing it has very distinct almost sulfur smell to it when removed by netting and looks very similar to a jelly fish like substance. Keep in mind I have had this tank cycling for about 3/4 weeks. Parameter specs to come as im waiting on test kit to arrive . so here is where I am at in my current build and pics to follow

90 gallon with live sand
15 lbs live rock
30 gallon sump chambered with return pump
Water heater
No power heads and no skimmer and no lighting except a basic led.

Doesn’t appear to spread no algae observed

It should be a bacteria , and I get that , but the sulphur makes no sense.

Have you been testing?

Have not been testing I’m awaiting a test kit to arrive I say sulphur smell but more like a rot smell to it when out the water. Tank is crystal clear as well and it doesn’t spread just “attacks” covers any food I put in

K. The rot smell makes perfect sense. It is basically.
And yup it's rotting producing ammoina and the bacteria are surrounding it.

Check your ammoina just for giggles.
