White cotton stuff on torch coral?!?

It is closed really tight and has this stuff on it... the other torch seems ok

What is going on and what should I check?

I did a water change yesterday and all the parameters are fine... I have no clue what is going on now...

I dont think it is a sponge, it came out of no where in two hours that I was out of the house. And the polyps are more than retracted, some are literally shriveled :'(

Only thing that I did was I added a diamond goby that kicked up some sand, but the tank isn't old enough that him digging a hole would cause this big of an issue right?

Him digging a hole from my knowledge wouldn't really ever cause this...no matter how old the tank...hope someone else can help

I didn't get this alert. Hard to say for sure. It almost looks like bleached parts of the torch or it's spilling its guts.

It is thick, but soft. Like I clocked a pipette I used to clean it off, but it blew off the coral pretty easy.

Nitrates: 5
Phosphates: .05
Salinity: 1.027 or 1.025 the refractometer is cold compared to the water so it is tough to know the exact level in there but as far as I know that is an ok range.
Temp: 79 degrees.

Yeah, I saw it "poop" yesterday and it looks nothing like it.

Closest thing I can relate to it would be a leather coral shedding almost...

It seems to be bouncing back a bit, will keep everyone updated though.

More or less seems ok now... still a little bit smaller than it normally is, but it does seem to be getting better.

Just wish I knew what happened exactly... hmmm.

I've got exactly the same, my set up is only 6mths old. The coral was perfectly fine this morning came home to find it like this after work.. It's like cotton stuck to the coral.. Sorry about image quility

Well that is a leather coral right? If it is that is actually really normal for them. They close up, shed a layer of skin then normally open up more then they did before even.

I’m currently having a very similar problem with my torch. Dipped it twice, moved it, turned down the lights and did a 25% water chance nothing seems to help.
I’m assuming by the pics that’s a 24k golden Aussie torch. If so then I’m making the bold assumption that this might be a common occurrence among them, considering I’m struggling with very similar issues on the torch mentioned.
I’d highly appreciate any tips or insight.
