are this pea crabs will disturb coral or any inverts? i am afraid there is more in tank that i not found yet..I believe those are pea crabs which are parasitic. Two of them inside a maxima can do damage so they probably were the cause of your clam's death. Once your clam died they likely crawled out and stayed hidden under the clam's shell for protection.
Pea crabs only live inside bivalves so unless you have more clams, etc in your tank I don't think you have to worry about them surviving long enough to do anything.are this pea crabs will disturb coral or any inverts? i am afraid there is more in tank that i not found yet..
