Hi all
I've had lyretail anthias in quarantine for since the third week of November. I started off with 6 fish, however some sort of disease wiped out 4 of them and I'm down to 2. However I've had no deaths since 12/7, and the two I have left have looked completely well since the last death with no problems. They're eating, have no spots/plaques, aren't scratching, etc.
HOWEVER....
Their feces/poop has been white and remained that way. When I first received them it was long and stringy....and I know that this is indicitive of an internal parasite or bacterial infection. Since multiple treatments (listed below), the poop isn't long and stringy, it looks normal other than the color, which is white mixed with brown or just plain white.
Whatever disease wiped out the other 4 anthias spread rapidly. I posted about it here. They would develop a large pale plaque on their body and would be dead in 24 hours. Within 24 hours of one of the other fish dying another fish would become sick. In order to stop the cascade I took the 4th fish to get sick out of the tank and euthanized him before he died.
I've treated the tank with:
Cupramine
Metro (both in the food and in the tank)
PraziPro (both dip and tank treatment)
Melafix
Paraguard (as a dip)
Water perameters are all good. The two fish who are still alive look good and are eating well.
My question is:
Do I stop focusing on the poop color and figure the disease that took out the other 4 anthias is eradicated?
Do I continue to experiment (which is all I would be doing at this point) and treat them for longer? And if so with what?
I just don't know if they are safe for the display now or what else to do. I also know that prolonged medication treatment isn't a good thing
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
