Been away for the weekend, everything was ok when I left home on Friday. Came home today and found one of the two clowns near the bottom with a white film and low appetite. He usually gets really excited when I feed but he hasn't left the bottom since I came home. What's wrong with him?

Had a couple of clowns too. The wild are stronger by far. I will never buy a ORA fish again. They just don't have what it takes to survive.

Pure sign of brooklynella AKA clown disease.
The most significant sign is the amount of slime on its body which is noticeable on the fish. This mucus generally starts at the facial area as well as gills and spreads across the body producing lesions as it progresses often confused with ich and can turn into secondary bacteria. Other symptoms will be lethargic behavior, refusing to eat and heavy breathing from the mucus.
Start with a prolonged 60 minute bath of ruby rally pro then at a lower concentration in a quarantine tank. The longer the fish are exposed to the treatment, the more effective it will be at eliminating this issue.
Since a formalin solution is often not available for immediate use, temporary relief can be achieved by giving the fish a FW bath or dip in water same temperature as display tank. Even though this treatment will not cure the disease, it can help to remove some of the parasites, as well as reduce the amount of mucus in the gills to assist with respiration problems.
Treatment is best done in a QT tank using Ruby Rally Pro. Ruby takes a little longer and initial treatment generally takes 2-3 days to really start going to work.
With the advanced stage of this- I recommend immediate quarantine of all inhabitants and leaving display without fish for 4-6 weeks.

Cool. Now just wait for Vett and Jay to chime in.

Edit: Vett just got here, lol!

That looks like classic Brooklynella. The best treatment is a formalin dip at 150 ppm, and then move it to a treatment tank with 25 ppm formalin. All clowns should be watched for similar symptoms, some other fish can catch this also.

Formalin is tough to acquire and is toxic to people, so using it in a home is problematic. Ruby Reef Rally Pro is not as effective, but is much safer. I don't think you can find this in Norway very easily though....

Hey there Jay. How long at 25ppm? And is this a set it and forget it or is there a frequency of dosing along with duration?

Further Edit.....The Duration of the dip?

How do i treat this?
Just realized you are in Norway. In this case best treatment will be Aquasonic Formalin or Waterlife Myxazine

150 ppm dip, with good aeration for 45 minutes, and then 25 ppm in the tank daily for 5 to 7 days.
