White film

I just started my saltwater tank about a week ago and noticed a white film all over the inside glass and wasn’t sure if it was a salt build up, part of the cycle process or something else?

Looks like just that really fine dust that comes with new sand, nothing to worry about.

Would it be all over the inside...in the picture actually wiped some of it off it was from top to bottom of the glass and also on the heater

Due to new sand. Same happened with mine, I give my glass a quick clean every night with my flipper, takes about 5 minutes and keeps it crystal clear.

Did you rinse the sand beforehand?

I agree, it looks like dust from the sand. It happens with a new set up

It said not to since it’s live sand

You may want to give it a stir a few time before the fish are added to try to get as much out as possible. Will be much easier before livestock than once fish and corals are in

What filter media are you running? You'll need something fairly fine to capture a lot of the dust

It’s a fluval 407 canister filter

It’s chemical, biological and mechanical

How fine is the mechanical? If it's only foam for example I don't know if it will take the finer particles out effectively

It has quick clear foam...supposed to trap micro particles and biomax foam as well
