Wow no response since August of 23. That look like a Chromodoris orientalis (black and white sea slug). However I do not see the light brown, tan or orange structures generally found on this organism. Given that is correst, they have various feeding methods and are generally carnivorous. They feed on sponges, hydroids, bryozoans, entoprocts, and ascidians. These are all small filter feeding organisms so most hobbyist corals should be safe.

thank you for the response. It never moves and is hard like a rock? Wouldnt a sea slug move about?

Yea, a sea slug would move about, and most sea slugs wouldn't be rock hard either. Any chance you could take the frag out of the tank to get some closer up, clear pics of the thing in a container of tank water?

Random guess, but could it have been a plating type corraline algae that died? Mine in the tank that gets shaded out or died has strange colors.

interesting. I will update on what happens with it. Maybe the peeling will continue and it will fall off.
