i bought some zoos the other day and now theres this white flim all over them. theres also some type of growth on them it kainda looks like a slug but it hasn't moved or anything. i did a dip with lugol and water. it looks like a thin layer of mold

It's probably a sponge. Sometimes my zoas shed also.
yeah i posted on another site and seen someone else with the same problem. i tried picking off as much of the dead looking stuff that i could. is there anyway to save the zoo. i was going to just put it in an area with more flow but someone suggested just to frag off as much as i can. does anyone have any experience with this. thaks for the replies

if they are wild colonies that are recently imported they often have a filmy substance within the polyps. If you reall blast them w/ a powerhead is it starts to come out. the things that look like slugs are sponge and they can be plucked off.

Yep i never had a problem with them dying when they peel or with the sponge. I just brush the sponge off if there's a sponge. And if they are peeling i just let them be and the white film will blow away in a few days.
