White fuzzy slimey stuff

Can anyone help me identify and cure this please... it's slimey and doesn't brush off

Are you running anything for phosphates?
Number from your test kit doesn’t account for what the algae is eating up
If your using nopox I’ve read that overdosing this can cause a white slime.

I was using nopox about 3 weeks ago when my po4 was high but haven't used it since I'm now using rowaphos in a reactor....

I recived my Triton results the other day and po4 was good

Yeah the results show po4 down but that’s showing what’s left in water after nuisance algae have taken some out. I’m showing zero phosphates and higher than I like nitrates but algae tells me po4 still needs to be knocked down.
How old is tank? Getting po4 and nitrates in balance can take some time and ugliness. Also using nopox myself I’ve read where you shouldn’t stop using it cold turkey but slowly wean off. The carbon dosing promotes different strains of bacteria to get rid of the nitrates and po4
Reactor should make a dent in time how long have you been running rowaphos?

Odd stuff.
Is that snail eating it ?

Normal bacterias will make slime that comes off easily.

My guess is odd chrystophytes or diatom perhaps a dino. Those usually scrub off.
But with those it’s possible the nopox fueled them.

I would ignore the no3 Po4 , and I don’t prints the balance thing. As long as you have them available your fine.

Some of these organisms pull thier nitrogen right from the fish pee, and Apper to need little available Po4.
In the case of things like bryopsis, you can starve your corals to death and the bryo will live. Chrystos seem to pull Po4 directly from the rock and is a reason the root deeper.

I’d leave the nutrients alsone and figure out how to remove it. Either more of those snails , try a black out (after a couple weeks so the nopox is gone ) or scrub with peroxide.

The tank is new only 12 weeks old and I've been using rowaphos for 2 weeks.

Hopefully I can get this sorted looks horrible

It will get better
12 weeks is young in a tanks life and uglies are a part of it. I switched from a GFO reactor to nopox and ended up with a gha explosion as I just stopped reactor without giving nopox time to build up.
Hang in keep reactor rolling an try out the cuc and or dark time saltyfilmfolks suggests and your tank will come around

+1 on this.
Keep testing and keep a good eye on tank it will tell ya if it’s not happy pretty quick.
My biggest worry with nopox is missing the nitrate drop overdosing and stripping nutrients and ending up with worse dreaded Dinis as Salty said. Eventually depending on what we choose to stick our tanks with may need to dose the things we’re trying to limit but I’m a long time from that.

Thanks for all the advice guys I've just bought some more cuc so hopefully they will help also trying a black out for a couple of days ( how long would you's suggest? )

I'm going to test my parameters now I'll post them up when finished using salifert, red sea and Hanna

Salinity 1.020 ( very low for some reason ) red sea refractometer
Ammonia 0.3 ( seneye )
Ph 7.9 ( seneye ) lights are off
Dkh 8.1 ( Hanna )
Cal 470 ( salifert )
Mag 1470 ( salifert )
Phosphate 0.2 ( Hanna )
Nitrate 0 ( red sea )
Nitrite 0 ( red sea )

My salt level is usually 1.026 how much salt would I need to make salinity back to normal?

Just take it back up slowly I took some tank water added a bit of salt then tested in an hour till I got it to move …001 and did that each day same time till where I wanted
