White growth on favia overnight

Pic slightly dark but looks to be clatharina sponge and safest removal will be injecting with vinegar or air and it will shrink

It's probably not dying tissue. Like Vette guy said, could be a sponge. I'd be careful shooting vinegar directly on the Favia though. Air works if it's a sponge that's sensitive to air but it could potentially give off toxins when it's dying so be prepared to maybe run some carbon if you're not already.

@ISpeakForTheSeas ? Look like sponge? Doesn't look like a "sleeping" retracted Favia flesh.

Thank you guys I'll try to get better pics when I get home, how could that sponge get in the tank if it formed that fast, will there be any favia left when I get home?

That last photo makes it look like a piece of food trying to float away... No idea if it could be a sponge or not. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Sorry, busy day for me - the first few pics look like they could be sponge, but the new pic looks more like a clump of mucus or a bacterial film than a sponge.

I went ahead and sucked it out with a turkey baster, it seems to be bacterial. I kept it in a cup I'll post pics later I'm going to get saltwater.

So I think it's a bacterial infection. I didn't post pictures of the cup because it won't be useful it just looks like a translucent white substance. It seems to be coming from inbetween the polyps of the coral, should I worry about it spreading to my other corals?

You can see more has been secreted since it's filled the space inbetween the polyps

Haha, I doubt we'd be able to pinpoint what it is, but I would guess it's either bacteria or excessive mucus being produced for some reason.

Could a dip in peroxide or iodine help, also though I would mention my calcium has fallen to about 200ppm because I haven't done any water changes because of fluconazole dose. 14 day mark would be on Friday, then I can do a water 30% wc
