hey everyone.
Can anyone help me ID this weird white and brown growth on the frag plug? Majority on this one frag plug I've had for...6 months and there's a little in the top of the rack. Any ideas!? It almost looks like barnicles but not calcified.
Maybe @Lionfish Lair has some ideas?
Thanks

Also what the heck is this thing? Pulled off an acan frag. Looks like a pineapple sponge but it's differently shaped.

I've never see. Sponges like the first set of pics.

hahaha if I can get the plug out somehow without them ripping off, I will send them to you.

Im ok if they want to grow in the cryptic areas LOL but not anywhere else.
I was looking around 11pm last night and found a sponge the size of a half dollar coin in my sump on the glass. Its amazing how many things just grow seemingly out of no where.

I'd be tempted to ID the first as Bryozoans vs Sponge with detritus on it.

Ive searched different types of bryozoans and cant find anything remotely close to my pics.
Im hoping @Lionfish Lair will stop by and add her 2 cents

The first set of pictures shows colonial ascidians. The last one looks similar to a pineapple sponge to me. With a better photograph maybe we could tell what causes the strange shape.
