So the lights are off in the picture but the rock is in The middle of the tank in full light when the lights are on, and there is a soft white growth that is literally growing up off the rocks, it appears to be photosynthetic because it’s growing up towards the light. It also encrusted a large portion of the rock. I touched it and it’s definitely soft, I can’t tell if it’s a spongy material or not.

It’s definitely not pineapple sponge, since I have a crapload of those in low light areas of my tank.

Any thoughts?

Sponges. They usually are the result of excess nutrients in your tank.
