Hey everyone, been in the hobby a little less than a year. Have a 75 gallon tank with live rock (and fish). Just the other day I noticed this white growth on the rocks. I have searched here and other forums. Mainly posting to show the pictures and get opinions. Thanks!

Hey, sorry...I did not realize that you were new to R2R! Welcome to our awesome site! You will enjoy it here! A lot of good people and knowledgeable at that to help with anything you come up with or against.
As for your question, sponges come mainly as hitchhikers on live rock, coral colonies and frags mainly,
Best of luck to you...
Happy reefing!

The only time I would worry is in the future if it encroaches upon any corals you may end up putting in your tank. The sponge could potentially irritate it or block essential light to corals as well.
If sponges die, they can leach toxins in your water, however, a simple water change and carbon implementation will suffice.
