In my FOWLR tank that has been running for about 5 weeks and is cycled, some white hair like substance is growing on my rocks. Any idea what it could be? Also during my cycle it never went through any of the algae stages.

Hard to see but it's white, also the purple behind it is epoxy.

Hard to tell but when you said white hair like I thought maybe staghorn algae I would look up some images and compare

Yes fishy business sent me a very healthy shark.

Congrats!

I would up the clean-up-crew..... many more for a big tank.... brush off everything you can see, do a water change, and see where it goes from there. Maybe tone down the lights a bit too, and just see what grows back and how fast...

Yeah I have about 50 snails in the qt right now, once they are good I don't think algae should be a problem.

Actually is seems to only be growing on my epoxy, which is reef welder. Anyone know what it could be?

I have had white bacteria grow on epoxy before. After the cycle and full cure of the epoxy, never saw it before again. Possibly what you have as well.

Also I've only been running blue lights.
