White hairs on frags - hydroids?

I have a few frags with some strange things on them. One looks like hydroids?

Maybe? And not sure what that red stuff is?
 
Yes, looks like hydroids. Red looks like formanifera.
 
I have about 14 frags in my QT tank. I worry about transfering this crude to my DT. What are the best actions for me on this? People seem to say throw it out if it has hydroids on it (from what ive read)
 
The formaniferan is harmless. The hydroids can sting coral but in my experience the fleshy white varieties like this tend to be short lived in most systems. It's the ones that form the solid tubes that can be tough to eradicate. I'd gently scrub off the hydroids you can with a toothbrush and rinse the frags well in a bowl of tank water before returning to the tank. I'd monitor them afterwards before throwing them out. I'd leave them in QT for now. This type of hydroid may very well run its course. If none of the animals in the QT tank require feeding then I'd lay off feeding the corals.
