I bought this guy about two weeks ago and he had white marks on his head. He appears totally healthy minus this one thing. Any ideas?? Reason to be concerned?

It could also be hole in head, that’s actually my guess. I’d treat for both.

The treatment for HLLE is better nutrition and clean water. Add zoe and selcon to fish food to help. Vita chem is another good one but Zoe is the most important for angels.

From Humblefish:

True "Hole in head" is caused by Hexamita, a genus of parasitic diplomonads (intestinal worms). These worms are different because they eventually migrate to the sensory pores on the head where they cause the surrounding tissue to decay. However, a fish with Hexamita should still have white stringy poop associated with all internal parasitic infections.

Feeding general cure or Prazi in the food with focus to bind it to the food is how you can treat it.

Haven't seen any stringy poop yet, but I'll watch for that and if so, treat accordingly

I'm putting prazi with the food just in case. How long does this typically last?

I also wonder why.. but the blueface I had for 9 months now exhibit these patches from time to time and they dont seem bothered.. After a while it disappears completely. I do agree on giving it a more diverse diet

It is head lice which causes hole in the head- similar to HLLE
