White sand vs Black sand?

Why do most people say black sand shows algae more then the white? I would think algae would show more on the white. I really want to go with black but people keep talking me out of it. I'm having a hard time deciding please help me....lol...Does the Hawaiian Black stick to the Flipper magnet?

Black sand can sometimes have iron in it, it would then stick to the magnet. But any sand can get caught if you aren’t careful.

Use the sand you want, black, white, or a mix. Husbandry will dictate whether you have a algae issue or not. I’ve done black in the past and I like it.

Does anyone know if the Hawaiian black has the same values for you water as the Special Grade Arag? Both are from BRS. Has anyone ever used the Hawaiian black?
