After a few weeks of neglect (out of town) my tank is losing the battle to whatever this stuff is. I am almost ready to throw in the towel. I scrape it off glass and rocks and continues to come back. My coral are suffering and am debating shutting it down. Any ideas on 1. What it is? And 2. Is it treatable?

Thanks

Is the coat green or brown or white? It's not clear in the pic.
Is it present all the time or only during day?

Now that you are back are you back to doing regular water changes? Maybe switch out a mechanical media you have in the filtration after you scrape it out to erase any mass trace of the bacteria/algae.

Been looking through a lot of posts trying to find something like what I'm dealing with. I have what looks like the same thing on the bottom of my rocks and in my over flow. Did a water change last night and the amount of stuff I pulled out was crazy. Any luck identifying yet?
