white smooth thick stuff growing on live rock

it actually looks like it is areas where the algae is turning white? I usually would see that same thing when I've kept urchins and they mow down over the coralline....
The thick white stuff is dead Coralline Algae. with the right parameters it will grow back, no worries.

Yep what everybody said so far, just need a good cycling and you're good to go.

White Coralline
It was dull and on some of the rock. It is now growing quickly, spreading, very white. I am thinking white coralline. Been doing some research. I understand it seems to show up on Fiji rock sometimes. Could be something else, but I have some green, bluegreen, red, but very little. It's the white that is spreading fast.
Just want to make sure it is welcome. I have been using purpleup about twice a week, increased it to every other day in the last week. Noticed this was more noticably spreading over the last week.

I personally have never heard of white coralline algae, but ya never know I guess. I've always seen it, dead. But if the stuff is hard, and you can't just wipe it off, its a corlline of some sort. If its soft and spreading, im going to guess sponge.

Ive never seen white coralline aside from after its dried out on a rock out of the tank.. I see your FTS, for example the rock on the front left on the bottom there is noticable white, is this what your referring too? Can you take a close up of it so we can ID exactly what it is.
The colors of these algae are most typically pink, or some other shade of red, but other species can be purple, yellow, blue, white or gray-green. From Wikipedia
