So when feeding I hit pause on my return pump just to let things fall and give fish more opportunity to eat. Not all of them are good at finding food on the sand bed.

Anyway, when I resume the return pump I get a flurry of stringy white spring into the tank.

What is this???

Build up from inside the pump and plumbing. Happened with both of my tanks a few months after starting them up and hasn’t returned. It’s harmless though I’ve been told.

I’ve seen this before when I had a sump. Exactly what @BiKes100g said. It’s some kind of calcium like build up from the plumbing. I wouldn’t worry about it.
