I have these white specks all over my rocks and snails. Some are lining the inside of my FX6 canister filter. Does anyone know what they are? They are hard to the touch and almost feel like barnacles. Good or bad? Is there something that will slow the spread?

if you look closely enough at an individual one they should be like a little spiral shell. They are harmless and will act as filter feeders but they are annoying and will cover everything in the tank. Mine still have them and I just scrape them off things I don’t want them on.

+1 on spirobid worms and are not long lived. They feed mainly off algae. key is to direct water flow towards them and not at them and they will starve. Also 6 line, lunare wrasse and coral banded shrimp will eat them.
