Hi guys

just wondering if we could compose a list of fish that eat white sponges. I know Moorish Idol do, but they come with other issues, so are they any other fish?

Large angels are naturally sponge eaters. They also have their own issues

I don't think there is anything that eats sponges that is "reef safe" except some obscure nudibranchs that we haven't even described, let alone collected for sale or captively cultured yet.

I've heard Money cowries might eat them & are reef safe.. not tried them yet

My rusty angel eats all sponges, but so far has not nipped at any corals. it is in a mangrove lagoon full of macro, but there are still lps, sps and sofites in there. I would still not consider it reef safe, as I bet without all the macro and sponges, it would eat corals.

Interesting.... I have a white sponge for eons and neither my Eibli, or Coral Beauty will go at it , nor will they touch LPS or SPS that I've witnessed but I do have a sneaking suspicion they are hitting at any new Acan I put in with great gusto lol....

a lesson learned, if u want view, then tease them in with a good headline.
FYI,, this thread was completely accidental...
