White sponge like stuff on my rocks

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the hobby and had my tank running for 6 months now. For some odd reason im getting a white spiderweb looking sponge on my rocks with holes in them. Not sure if there are critter living in them or can i remove them? Can someone please point me to the right direction? TY

Some people like to set up 'cryptic zones' in their sumps. A cryptic zone is an unlit or low light (semi-cryptic) area specifically for growing sponges,,, like what you have,,, for filtration.
 
A sign of good water quality. These are pineapple sponge and can be removed with tweezers and placed in your sump or toilet
