My male bluejaw triggerfish suddenly has a white spot on one of his eyes and I am leaning towards an abrasion since it came on very suddenly. I would like to treat him though to prevent an infection from showing up I have metroplex that I can mix with some food I also have focus for that. Would this be of benefit? I would like to try and treat him without removing him from the tank is this possible. If it is flukes let’s say would a freshwater dip help with this in anyway since it is on his eye?

Usually if it's one eye, it's an injury. Eye injuries can be treated in the DT with 1 tablespoon of "plain" non scented Epsom Salts per 5 gal of tank water. Just keep a close watch as it could be a bacterial infection requiring antibiotics or flukes.

Thanks for that. Definitely only one eye, plus he and his female partner went through 30 days of quarantine, two rounds of Prazi pro and we’re fine a week ago when I put them in the DT....they do get pretty physical around the rocks and stuff so I can imagine him running into a rock. The Epsom salt’s is fine for the corals in the tank?

If overdosed the sulfates in epsom epso can kill corals. If you want to play it safe you can put him in quarantine and dose him there. But epsom salt dosed properly shouldnts harm anything

Do 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of tank water. And then add it again 3-4 days later.

Also if the eye gets infected stop treating with epsom and go for some bacterial meds. Epsom doesnt help with bacterial infections

Oh man don’t I know it !!! I’m going to put him in a quarantine tank would it just be beneficial for me to just go straight to AP general cure and remove any chances of it being an infection?

Adding medication could be stressful for the fish but if its otherwise healthy there isnt any reason not to add it, its good for prevention. So i would add it TE"Swoody, post: 5293857, member: 76130"]Oh man don’t I know it !!!
