I bought a Coral Beauty approx 2 weeks ago. After a few days in the tank the fish got a white spot on one side of his cheek. Did a freshwater dip that didn’t do much, and the spot appears bigger now after a few days after the fresh water dip. I posted to Reddit forum and they suggested this site.
the tank was acquired recently, everything was already established for about 2 years, has been not taken care of properly as the previous owner was “over it”, so trying to make it into a nice display again.
The tank is 240 gallon reef tank, lots of corals, lots of zoas, a tang who is semi aggressive (maybe the culprit?), two clowns, two damsels (territorial maybe the culprit?), another fish I’m not sure the name but looks similar to a tang but longer and wider body, Black a white striped fish with fins high on his head kind of looks like a small lion fish (it’s not I think may be just a huge damsel), a few gobi, and a few other long skinny fish that hide in the cracks that I’m not sure the name of yet (they seem dislike and are skiddish mostly white with blue colored stripes and one has blue eyes and half blue and half white), and a wrasse. The tank has a lot of crabs a large banded shrimp and a lot of bristle worms. I apologize in advance for not knowing exactly the names of everything but I’m not the first owner, so please bear with my newbie ignorance. My husband has been the keeper of all the water parameters, I haven’t heard him say anything with the water being off.

Here are more pictures of the coral beauty and the whole tank plus pics of the other fish I don’t know the names of.

Hi, Welcome to Reef2Reef!

That seems to be a localized infection - either bacterial or fungal. FW dips won't help with that.
Do you have a treatment tank available?

Jay

Thank you for the response, I don’t currently have a treatment or QT tank at the moment. Is it possible to treat without one? What sort of treatments are available? Thanks again for your help!

There are tonics that are sold that purport to be reef safe or display tank safe, but in the experience most people have - they either don't work, or the fish was destined to get better on its own.

Is the angel feeding o.k.?

Yes, everyone is acting normally and swimming/eating good.

Just giving an update for everyone. I treated the tank with Pimafix and it appears to have helped tremendously. I dosed for 7 days to the whole tank. The corals seemed to have not liked the treatment and will close up, but no lives were lost and everyone appears happy and healthy. Thank you again for all your help!

I've had ich problems in my missed reef tank with inverts. Sober I can't take everything out to treat, I've had great results with seachem products mixed with frozen fish food. Use seachem Focus to bing I the medicine to the food. Even though it had court in it, It hasn't hurt any inverts through multiple treatments, abd cured the problem.
