Paul, IDK, I can see 30+ trophonts on just the one side of the fish, mostly in the black portion, so there is bound to be more that aren’t visible. Unless those are artifacts of the photo, that fish is on the cusp of having geometric progression take over. If that happens, the Cryptocaryon is going to need to be treated.Hippo tangs get that. I don't know why but I have been keeping them from the 70s and quite a few of therm had that. It always goes away. Maybe it's the heartbreak of psoriasis, I really don't know but mine is fine now and that was over a year ago, maybe two.
But in most cases, you are better off leaving the fish alone. The hippo's that are treated for those silly things, are now dead hippo's.

It will reduce the theronts/tomites, but will do nothing for the trophonts on the skin. UV can be used to control ich going from one enclosure to another, but only shows partial control when used in side stream like this (referenced in Noga 2010). It’s all about the math- if ich is being managed, and the propagule pressure from the theronts is relatively low, UV is a great adjunct therapy. Once the prop pressure reaches a certain level, enough are missed by the UV to create an acute infection.I am also running a UV filter so shouldn't the free floating trophonts get hosed? it's 57w aquaUV
