White spots in a matured tank

How about ozone?? Isn't that effective as well?

There isn't any solid evidence that adding ozone via a skimmer or its own reactor helps eliminate parasites. However in theory it should kill or disable at least some of the parasites being exposed, and my own opinion after running ozone in several tanks with initial crypto infections is that it does help, even without running concurrent UV. I have no experience trying it against velvet.

Regarding UV, you probably already know this but make sure that the water flow through your UV sterilizer is slow enough to kill parasites and not just bacteria/algae as with higher flow rates.

You also asked about chloroquine phosphate, the answer is yes, it is quite effective against crypto and velvet in a QT but can't really be used in a display tank with rock etc because much of what you administer may be absorbed and unlike copper, there is no test available to check the chloroquine level and so no way to know whether your level has dropped and become subtherapeutic. Also some fish, in particular hippo tangs, anthias and many wrasses, are sensitive to CP and shouldn't be treated with it.

Maybe a fish trap or a tiny hook to literally fish them out?

I don't know of any food that can be fed to cure ich/velvet and I can't even fathom the amount or cost of medications to treat 3000 gallons.

If you do lose all fish or catch them I would use the QT methods here to pretreat all fish to iliminate parasites before they go in. Tank needs to be empty for 76 days.

I worry it's velvet and not ich...as I feel like ich shouldn't have killed so many in 3000 gallons with a uv.

Fish today are different from fish years ago and they seem to come in harboring nasties more frequently.

Oh what fun I would have with a tank like this !!

Hey guys ,
Just to inform you that i have successfully removed velvet from my tank. The fish are eating and healthy (touchwood). Anyways i am having an issue of microbubbles. Has anybody any idea how to get rid of it? The water that flows into sump flows with a high pressure, so i am thinking that it could be the reason for the microbubbles. I switched off the skimmer and did lots of experiment (except the flow ). I was thinking i could place a filter floss near the return pump so at least the bubbles would disappear. The size of the pipe from the return is 2 inch. So anybody has a better idea? The display looks kind of bubbly , you know what i mean.

Your idea is basically what many do, in different forms. Something to trap microbubbles before they get to the return pump. For example the Red Sea Reefers use a very coarse plastic sponge between a pair of baffles, which the water flows down through between the skimmer chamber and the return chamber, stripping out all bubbles.

How did you successfully remove Velvet from your tank?
