Can anyone help me identify what is on the base of my Hammer? I noticed these white spots when dipping the coral but I brushed them off (or thought I did) with a combo of my finger nail and a tooth brush. tonight my coral snagged some food and I noticed them again. look like grains of salt.

Look like spirorbid worms harmless filter feeder.

No need to kill them they're harmless. One can't just go killing everything in their tank that they don't immediately recognize.

Just a general question. Since I dipped anyway I just assumed they would die/drop off as I saw other worms/critters drop off during the same dip cycle. I personally think things like that are neat even if they were considered pests.

They're often something that hitchhikes in on live rock, they're one of those things that are nearly impossible to avoid.
