When I first got this wrasse, it had obvious ich. It went straight to QT with copper treatment. It is still in copper, on day 30 now. I have been using hanna checker for copper test, and it has never been lower than 2.1 ppm. The issue now are these white spots on one side of my wrasse. They have been in the same spot for almost a week now. They are not spreading, and none have been observed on the fins. Fish is very active and eats everything I offer it. Do I need to continue copper treatment? Any information is very much appreciated!

This appears to be a skin infection opposed to parasitical and may have led to mucus cones. Good water quality and diet will be helpful and continue in copper with clean water which you want to monitor with a reliable ammonia test kit. Do not let copper levels fluctuate and try to keep at 2.25 with added aeration using air stone.

No one responding. Must be a nice day everywhere.
@Jay Hemdal
Its summer and time of the year we go to festivals and have family over- Typical during this season.
We still check in though. For me daughter home from college- changes everything LOL

The wrasse is also breathing a bit deep/fast. I think the copper power would work better up at 2.5 ppm, but this probably is not a protozoan issue, not after 30 days of copper.

Is the water quality fine (specifically, good aeration and no ammonia)?

If so, I suspect flukes. Have you considered giving the fish a round of praziquantel?

Pictures are hard to see but doubtful it ich. Good diet and water quality in a peaceful reef tank they should go away. That said I would treat for flukes as that might be what your seeing

Thank you for the info. Yes, prazi was next but I did not want to start the prazi cycle if it still needed treatment for ich. Admittedly, aeration is not the best in the QT tank right now as my kids submerged the air pump....but it does have a HOB filter system that waterfalls enough to create a break in the water and create some bubbles. New air pump is coming for the prazi treatment. How low does the copper need to be before I start prazi?

Been hesitant to do a water change in fear of messing up my copper levels. I'm sure this has led to some water quality issues. I've been monitoring ammonia periodically and it has never spiked. I will do a water change and see if the symptoms improve. Thanks for the info!

Should be easy. Mix your new water and add copper to treatment level and add to tank

I would get a new air pump prior to running prazi….low oxygen can be an issue.
I normally run copper for 30 days and then two rounds of prazi spaced 8 days apart. Some people run prazi with copper at the same time.
