Hello everyone, i recently upgraded my tank from 55gal (which was 3 years old) to 210g, after a month of cycling tank first I noticed few white spots on my regal tang then it was on my yellow tang too. But they don't seems to be in stress and they are taking feed as well any suggestions to control those white spots?

Tank parameters
Salinity 1.024 ppt
Temperature 28°C I.e 82°F
Nitrates 20ppm
Po4 : .10
And please someone tell me how to post a picture as I try to attach a picture the page it self gets refresh after 100% of upload.

Make sure it's a jpeg. You can also try quitting and re-launching your browser if you still get that glitch.
Nope, tried it didn't work.

I found that I needed to compress jpegs to less than around 200k to get them to post.

Also, more background information would be helpful, here is a link:

I would also consider your browser - some especially Safari can be a little 'off' when uploading. I have not found size to be a problem. For example the file below is 1.4 mb. Now if you're uploading a 8 mb file that could be a problem - but I don't know the limits for R2R.

I would 1) Clear your Cache. 2) use Chrome. 3) use a computer (if possible) rather than a phone 4). Try to lower the size to < 2 mb.

Hello Jay, thank you for your reply.
Okay so the system is 220 gal. Nearly 2months old set up l. I upgraded my old 55g tank which was 3 years old and mostly all my fishes are from old tank expect 1sohal tang.
Current fishes in tank
Yellow tang
Purple tang
Regal tang
Sohal tang. Which woul be 10 month old from old tang. And all other fishes from old tank are 2years old.
A pair of clown
Six line wrasse
And strawberry dotty back recently added in new tank. 1 month old
Currently iam unavnble to post the pictures.
First I noticed white spots on regal tang 3 days ago. then today on my yellow tang.
No medication have been used yet iam trying to catch them from main display to shift in qt tank but no success need to empty the tank can't catch them.
Rocks are live rocks from my old tank and some new dead cycled rocks
Sand is carib sea live sand Fiji pink
Filtration nothing mechanical, except reef octopus regal int 250 skimmer
Biological filtration bio blocks and media.
Recently I had a ugly stage of cycling I didn't diagnose what kind of bacteria was tank going through so wheter it was dinos or diatom, THINKING IT WAS DINOS which was my mistake i ran my skimmer for 12 hours a day tried to level up nitrate and dose some bacteria from hydrospace pns Pro bio and microbacter7. What ever it was it is gone from tank now. It was my assumption that it was dinos because they were coming right after 1-2 after switching on the lights and when lights go off the bacteria vanished as well but now no sign of any brown algea
Lights which iam using are t5 api bulbs from old tank and 2 new orphek or 150 bars. Which are currently running 4hours a day and t5 10hours a day.
Corals in the tank are some softies and some lps no sps in the tank. No single invertibrate in tank.
That's all. Thank you hope you can help me out with fighting with those white spots to save my fishes

Would recommend strongly you contact R2R support - and ask how to post the pictures. Without them - it will be extremely difficult.

So finally! I had to compress the picture >500k.the actual picture was 2mb that was the reason it wasn't uploading

Great thanks bro - the pic to me does not show spots on the body (good) - it could be lymphocystis - or another virus - Give what you said - and given the fact the lymphocystis occurs during stressful periods - I would say - probably that. Watch for OTHER symptoms - heavy breathing, etc. Make sure your parameters are NORMAL - and observe. Note I can not see them in the picture but If there are problems on the body - it might be different IMHO

So - one way to tell ich from other “white spots” is that ich spots will come and go every 24 to 36 hours, while many other causes of what spots will be in the same position on the fish for more than 36 hours.

I don't see any heavy breathing, but regal tang is scratching herself to rocks.

If a fish is scratching is could be several things - flukes (if not spots) early CI or velvet - or something else. BtW - I APOLOGIZE - I focused on your yellow tang - but I see your regal tang has spots/problems also - I would assume its Cryptocaryon - or another parasite. You can choose to do a couple things - 1. Observe (since these fish have been togehter forever in a tank - they may very well recover without doing anything) - or 2 removing ALL of your fish to a copper treatment tank - and leaving the display fallow for (pick your protocol - there are a couple).
