I've had a sunburst anthias in qt for about 4 months. finally got around to treating with prazipro (even though I saw no signs of flukes, figured better to be safe than sorry), and all of a sudden I notice white spots on its head, right above the eyes. there are about half a dozen of them, approx 2cm in diameter. it hides too much to get decent photos. any ideas? eats normally.

sounds like either ick or velvet. could be the prazipro stressed it enough to trigger the outbreak. good that it happened in qt. I would treat for those and keep in qt a few more weeks to a month. good luck

Can you flush the fish out and post a pic? Do the white spots appear to be under or on top of the skin?

There is one genus of flukes (Neobenedenia) which will show itself on the skin. It mainly targets the face, lips and eyes.

Also, 2cm is over 3/4". Too large to be mucous from ich trophonts or velvet. If not Neobenedenia, this could just be Lymphocystis growths (harmless virus.)
