White spots

Hey everyone,

Might be a silly question but ill rather be safe than sorry.

It's been an eventful couple days, long story short I discovered white spots on one of my live rocks and on my red sea sailfin tang.

I've added photos and just want to know if I should be worried, at the moment I think its normal and I think my read sea sailfin tang is just growing and getting its normal dots

Everyone else in the tank seems to be loving life

These fish both have ich which is a treatable parasite.
Place fish in Quarantine tank and treat with Coppersafe or Copper Power at therapeutic level 2.25-2.5 For a FULL 30 days (do not interrupt this 30 day period) monitored by a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.
The display tank will have to be kept fishless (FALLOW) for 6-8 weeks to assure the existing parasites go through their life cycle without a host fish and die off
A quarantine tank can be as simple as a starter kit from Walmart which most of the needed essentials.

In the third photo down, the fish look covered in ich. However, in looking closer they seem to be spots on the glass can you confirn?

You were right about that, I didn't notice until you said it, there was only a couple only on my Sailfin tang, clown fish didn't have any spots on her.

Today his spots disappeared im not sure how but they were gone. I think it was just an eventful day in our aquarium yesturday and tensions were high

Just keep a close eye on the fish. Ich has the habit of coming and going at first. You see, its life cycle spends some time on the fish and then some time off the fish, When the disease first gets started, all of the parasites are on the same cycle and they come and go at the same time. Watch for the spots returning and then showing up in greater numbers.

Thanks for the heads up, we will keep a close eye on them all I thought I was in the clear!

Where does it usually come from? Could it have Hitched a ride on my Anemone as he was only added a couple days ago from an Aquarium store?

Yes - the parasite travels in on anything "wet" coming from an infected tank. It can also hide in tanks as a chronic infection for quite some time.
