This morning I noticed white stringy things coming from one side of my Purple Firefish. He’s been in the tank about 10 months and it has been 8 months since I added any new fish. The only other inhabitants are a Bangai Cardinal, a pistol shrimp, and two cleaner shrimp. The fish is swimming out in the open and eating normally.

Any thoughts?

Edit:

I´m sorry - I missread the post - thought it was stringy white pops. This I have no idea what it is

Sincerely Lasse

Can you get a pic in just white light? The actinics are hiding detail.

Exquisite firefish are relatively deep dwellers and can bring up some weird parasites with them.
@HotRocks @4FordFamily this a prazi or formalin treated type?

It’s right side has almost entirely cleared up. I had it suggested to me by a LFS that it could have been sand on the slime coat.
