When it rains it pours.

I noticed that two of my clownfish in my office tank have white, stringy poop. Should I assume it's parasites? Can I treat this in the tank?

Add metroplex or General Cure to your food, also focus to bind the meds to the food. Feed for 10-14 days and this should clear up your issue.

You might want to run GAC if doing so in a DT just to make sure any meds that may leach are removed from the system.

Hi LBReefer- I’m seeing stringy white poop on the bottom of my QT. I will begin to with metroplex and focus tonight for 10- 14 days. Dr Humblefish recommends 1 measure metro with 1 measure focus per TBS frozen food or pellets. (Both metro and focus have small measuring spoon in the tube). The focus binds the metro to the food so it doesn’t just fall right off the food!

Thank you for the advice! I will try that tonight.

Old thread here... If white stringy poo and assumed internal parasites are present, will feeding medicated food fix the problem long term? Or... is it likely to be a recurring problem? Can the internal parasites get into the display tank sandbed etc. and remain dormant?

Thanks @HotRocks @Humblefish

The worms need a host to survive. They most commonly are transmitted when fish eat each other's poo.
White and stringy gets our attention, but we also look for the fish eating a lot and presents with a pinched stomach.
Feeding the medicated food for up to 30 days or less until the condition improves usually takes care of the problem for a given fish. But they are constantly eating each other's poo.
