My leather recently closed up big time and has this long white stringy substance hanging off of it. My guess is that my shark swam into it and now it is secreting mucous. Can anyone confirm? Thank you.

I believe this is a natural process for leathers to ‘shrivel’ and ‘slime’ from time to time (I’m sure those are not the technical, marine biology terms—Lol), and may have little to do with interaction with a fish. I’ve seen this happen to leathers I have owned, sometimes weekly, depending on the coral, and they always look better/healthier following the event. Best wishes!
