White stringy thing

Hello, what is the white stringy stuff coming of the coral? Also, can anyone ID the coral? Got it as a freebie. It's on a frag so I can easily scrap it off if I need to.

I assumed it was a vermetid snail but when I took the coral out, I couldn't find the shell. It looks like it coming out of the coral.

I already took the coral out thinking it was something I needed to scrape out. O well, time to glue it back where it was.

There's a candy cane coral about 4-5inch away. If it's warfare then it's probably attacking the algae next to it.

That's probably it. I took a pic under blues and it looks very close to it. Never heard of this type of coral. Time to do some research.
