I am entering month 2 of a fishless DT due to a multitude of parasites. I am just now noticing a bunch of "white stringy" things on my rocks. It almost looks like dead cyano after a chemiclean treatment. I am wondering if its some sort of live creature and although unlikely, dead or dying parasites? It is not starfish arms or anything like that. I cannot get a picture of them (they don't show in pics).

How old is the tank? Any macroalgae in it? I'm probably way off base here, but when the Caulerpa went sexual the stuff your describing sounds familiar.

If it is hydroids they will extend out and quickly retract if bothered
They reach about 4" when full grown
I will get right to your message as soon as I get these kids ready and off to school.
There is a lot of info to cover.

@Robertchrisroph have you verified what was peaking out of your rock?

Yes @twillard I have one again. Its under a rock on bottom of tank. I will have to remove the piece to get to it.

Oh no!
Pesky low flow areas
Darn it if you disturb the rock he will suck right up and you won't know where he is at.
I will send you more at no cost if you want to dip the rock itself.
I have about 175mg ready to go just let me know :-)

No no money :)
I will have it out to you asap!!

I am currently testing this with flatworm so its all ready to go out

Hi Robert!
Those are harmless and feed of suspended foods.
Sometimes they can grow into huge numbers depending on if food is available
Oh and your box is going out today all printed up and waiting for the carrier.
