White stuff on live rock

I am new to this whole saltwater thing and trying to find out what is on a couple pieces of live rock that I have. I was told one of them is a sponge and the other one they are not positive of

Yes, that is a sponge .
I have no idea what the unknown is either . I’m sure someone will chime in on what the heck that is !

It looks like sponge to me. Does it have just a little give to it if you push on it?

Yes it does, and it is pliable I guess you would say. I popped one off by accident and took more pics

Cool! Thats why I like live rock.

I have them in my tank. They typically do not like light. I position them on the underside of the rock when aquascaping and they do quite well.

Ok are they safe to have with corrals when I get to that stage

Yes they filter the water and just like coral strive for "stability" with whatever system and parameters you decide on.
