i have a bunch of different zoas/palys that have white dot/patches growing on their stems. tiny white fuzz also seems to grow from these spots.

i have googled zoa pox and pox look like they grow from within the skin and out of the zoas, but these dots/patches look like they are growing on the actual skin.

i thought it might be zoa pox so i treated with Furan-2, after which the polyps started opening, however it was short-lived as they are still on the polyps and it feels like the polyps are opening less. anyone have any idea what this stuff is?

Have you tried to physically remove them with tweezers by scraping them off? Try revive dip also.

I have tried to scrape them off, it takes a while but seems to come off with a mucous layer, they are not big enough to remove by tweezers. I am treating it as pox again and i am in the process of Furan-2 dipping again, last time i did only one week, this time i will do more and see what happens.

At first i tried peroxide, but that didnt do anything but tick the zoas off, i will give revive a try too.

First time i did 4 dips in 4 days at 1 packet to 2 cups of water. They showed a bit improvement.

I just completed another 4 dips same as before, but i have more Furan on order and will do another 4 after 1 week.

I went through a similar issue a month or two ago. I did a similar schedule with only a day or two break between the second and third series and I was able to knock it out. Its a pain in the butt but keep at it. Hopefully they'll turn the corner.

*After thought, I also did 20-30mins. I did a post dip Lugol's bath and that seemed to help, I don't believe the furan-2 was as effective on its own (I got lazy and stopped doing the lugol's bath at one point and my results weren't as good).

I've been doing 30 min furan 2 dips followed by 12 min revive dips and that has helped me when I was going through some pretty bad issues.

unfortunately the placve i bought the Furan-2 still hasnt shipped yet, and because of people buying fish medication instead of prescription medication, most useful medication here is banned from sales...

my utter chaos is looking utterly dreadful, doubt itll make it. the other ones look ok.

1 thing i found out is the polyps NEED to be closed before they are put in the Furan dip, i have a Sunny D that lost 70% of its zooxanthallae. i had a similar thing happen when i tried peroxide and one Orange rainbow polyp wouldnt close, it lost 99% of its zooxanthallae, whole thing turned brown. there were 2 other polyps that helped it through and it has now regained all of its zooxanthallae but is noticeably smaller than the other 2 polyps.

i will continue the Furan dips, and if the situation doesnt get rectified, i will do Revive dips as well.

Well ive completed the second round of treatment, and like the above suggestions say, also dipped in Revive, and brushed off with a soft toothbrush.

This is the result 3 days after completion

A sight ive missed for so long :(. The only things ive lost were the utterchaos, and possibly 1 tiny polyp of yellow hornet that separated from the 2 big ones. Hope this lasts, i may do revive dips once in a while and brush them off periodically in the future.

it keeps coming back ;Rage;Rage;Rage;Rage;Rage

(not my picture but this is clearer than what i can get)

dipping and brushing helps for like a week or 2, then it starts coming back real quick, what is this stuff???

did you ever do a Fluconidazole treatment for byropsis or hair algae on your tank in the past ?

nope, only algae "problem" i have is a bit of cyano i think here and there, but nothing plague proportions. is that connected to zoa problems?
