Am I the only one
When my return pump turns off periodically for cleaning or during a power outage and then turns back on. My display fills with a white substance. Looks kinda like frozen mysis in size. Am I the only one that gets this. And what is it? I assume it's algea that doesn't require light growing on the inside of the PVC.

Mine doesnt fill the display, but I see a few pieces here and there. When was the last time you cleaned your return pump?

I had that to I thinks is just bacterial slime build up or calcium deposits in the impeller... Both are harmless but the calcium impedes the efficiency of the pump.

Most likely Carbon Deposits being broke loose from your pump and plumbing, Cleaning your Impeller will help to rid this problem

Some detritis build up in the sump and inside the return pipes, too. When you turn your pump back on, the strong flow will break up the loose pieces and blow them around in the display tank. They are unsightly but harmless.

Yep, harmless bacteria and calcium buildup. I get the same thing. It fills your pipes like plague in your arteries, lol...

Haha old thread but I get this too. Every time I do a water change and shut my return pump down. I actually take some time to turn my return pump to max, and block each of my two return outlets one at a time with my thumb. The white stuff shoots right out! I was thinking it could be some beneficial things, maybe sponges or other type. But I’d rather have the stuff out if my plumbing
