White tail kole Tang has something - please help

Yeah it’s definitely on the fins. It’s just odd because while some look like white specs it also looks chalky too (only on fins). Trying to get more pictures.

Yes if it is lympho, maintaining prestine water quality is important, and it should resolve on its own. It could also help to up the feeding schedule/quality and maybe add some vitamins.

Lympho can absolutely appear on the fins. in fact this states it usually starts there

Again, I don't want to insist it isnt ich. But given your set of circumstances, it would be worth considering. The lymph spots wont change location.

I will keep this in mind as I reference the pictures to his condition throughout the day.

Maybe it’s the very early stage of lympho (if it is that) because they don’t look large enough to be wart like hanging off the fish

Here are some photos of my clown when I suspected lympho after it cleared up on its own. Just so you can see that it isn’t always extreme like in the photos. I don’t introduce anything, including snails, that isn’t QT which makes me think it wasn’t ich that my fish overcame on his own

You are correct, my bad. My understanding related more to Lympho spots as opposed to wholesale damage along the edges of fins, and I'll be the first to admit my understanding might not be correct. As other have said, crypto spots will come and go and move on the fish body as the parasite lives, detaches, reproduces, etc. If you have any doubt, that's another way to narrow the possibilities.

I don’t want to give you false hope. I just think it’s important to be sure before you remove all your fish and start treatment

Another possibility for the spots on the body would be mucus plugs. These can exist for an extended period of time, cause no problems, and do not require treatment. I've had them on a convict tang from time to time. It was round, larger than the ones on your tang, and remained on the fish for months before dropping off. Another one appeared about a year later, stayed around for about a month, then disappeared.

I sincerely appreciate the insight and discussion with everyone. I am leaning towards monitoring the day or so (since his behavior has not changed and I also do not see him scratching himself at all). With the intention to grab a 40g breeder if needed. I previously quarantined all my fish one at a time in a 15g AIO but that obviously isn’t acceptable for all my fish now lol.

Did you determine if this was ich or Lymphocystis? I have the same fish that came from dr reef. Noticed a few white spots on fins and body a week or so after I got him. I could very well have ich in the tank but I buy all quarantined fish and no other fish show spots. Your pics of the fish look like what mine has. usually much easier to see under blue lights. Please tell me the spots went away. Haha

Honestly I am thinking it was ich. I saw a couple of noticeable spots on my other fish but I ended up taking no serious action other than consistent 30% water changes once a month and everyone has been very happy and healthy! It’s because of this I think I will be “managing ich” rather than eradicating. It was so stressful worrying about the possibility of a parasite in my tank. I feed well and keep the water quality as good as I can and the fish all seem to be really happy. Now had they been looking really sick I definitely would have removed/treated/quarantined again
