What are the little white spiral things on the glass that look like little fan worms? And is there a way to get rid of them?

I've scrapped them off but I'm looking for a permanent solution if someone has one.
I have heard they are on new tanks. I saw some on mine and they haven't showed up in a while, at least not on the glass.
What tank is it on and how old?

Leave them! They are tiny feather dusters. They help clean your water. If you want the population to decrease, feed less.

No the 165 isn't going yet Chase. I'm still working on it. Haha! Soon though. These are on the frag tank that I started in January. It proabably is cause it's a new tank. The 10g used to have them but doesn't now. It's 2.5 years old so that makes sense.

I don't really feed the tank at all. There's no fish...just coral. I just like the look of clean scrapped glass better. I've got a big rock of coral worms in there that looks pretty cool.

I don't have a pic right now. They're kinda small to get a pic of but I can try later. It's definitely not snail eggs. I've had those before also. It's the hard little shells that are very small. It's some type of worm cause it has the little fan coming out like the feather dusters do. I was really just wondering what their name was if anybody knew. I've seen them on a lot of tanks. Just curious as to what they are specifically.

they might be hydriods. i used still get them from time to time. they are harmless.
