Saw this white zoanthid (I think it is) growing on a rock and I've heard that white zoas do not exist? Just praying it isn't some fungus or creature that I do not want. Curious if anyone else has seen these? They're growing extremely fast which is why I'm concerned.

Sorry I don't have a better photo.

I think they are closed maybe not white. I think you should have no problem.

They don't look like zoas to me, white ones do exist, but they are nonphotosynthetic. They would have tissue connecting polyps and are usually more rounded over looking when closed.

Do they have a little bit of a spiral shape? Could they be spirorbid worms?

Hey all my button polyps seemed to be stressed or something. I uploaded a photo my brown ones are doing fine but the green ones on the same rock are all mostly closed up and looking a little shriveled. they have been doing great thus far. ammonia is 0 Phosphate reads .25 on API test kit. Nitrate reads 5 . Salinity 1.026. calcium 640. I have no other test kits. KH test kit in the mail. all the other corals I have seem to be doing pretty well. There is a before and after picture.

It seems to me that only one is connected. Do you think it looks like in this photo?

Its really not a good picture, would be better if you could post a better pic under white light.

Here are a couple more photos, not to say they're much better. It's difficult bc they aren't in the front of the tank so I have to zoom in. I'll see if I can use another camera later today to get a better pic. This is no light, just natural.

They aren't shaped like spirorbids, they have even round edges like a zoanthid. Really strange. I got the tank a few months ago and they looked like a zoa that had possibly died and now they're spreading and opening up with light. Very odd.

Were they completely shaded? They do look like zoa polyps, but I've never seen them bleach out like that so I'm not really sure.

Is this your tank/rock? Did these just appear or something?

It's on one piece of rock in my tank. I bought the tank months ago established and these guys were there but they looked like they maybe didn't make it, so I didn't question it. I recently noticed that not only are they opening up, but they're spreading quickly. I want to make sure it isn't something I do not want in my tank, like spirorbids, but I definitely feel like they're some kind of zoanthid. Just looking to see if anyone knew exactly what they are.

If they are bleached/dying zoas I wouldn't expect to see them spreading in that condition, even if they are recovering a bit.

Let's see if @vetteguy53081 is at his PC this morning.

Likely too much light or lack of food/nutrients

What do you think it is? It was pretty dead upon purchasing the tank and now it's flourishing.
Lack of nutrients and if store displays were bright- that too

Pic too dark to confirm
