whitening in my sps coral

Hello, my staghorn coral has spread to the bottom more than when I bought it, but the body part is whitening and I noticed whitening in my pocillapor, why?

my parameters; All tests with salifert
ca 405
kh 8
nitrate 2
phosphate cannot be measured
temperature variation ranges from 25.5 to 26.0 degrees
my light settings sps ab+ 60% working at 8 inch height

I had 0 luck with acropora and they would just die on me. Is this a nano tank or larger tank? I have a nano tank. Any KH swings will do this, change lights too drastically or large temperature swings. If the white is spreading you may have frag what is alive from where there is rapid tissue loss. If it doesn't spread than leave it alone. I have one stick it RTN all the way to the top. You could also use super glue to stop it as well. They are picky corals and sometimes die without any reason.

I increased my lights from 50% to 60% 2 weeks ago I don't know if that could be a factor

I just stick with LPS now. Yes lighting can impact them for sure. Especially if you get brighter bulbs after replacement, changing stuff can kill them too.

I recommend Red Sea AB+ and brightwell restor. They brought back a hammer that was almost dead and brought back a frogspawn. These corals are more fleshy and ate all of it. I saw no positive affect on sps corals with these products but I am getting great growth from the combination. I also use reef roids as well.

I'm using aquaforrest amino and vitaly now, I'm thinking of switching to redsea ab when it's finished
